CPVA Guidelines and Prizes
Brackets and pool sheets shall remain at the Tournament Director's tent at all times. Winning team players will be responsible for reporting scores to the Director immediately. Losing team players shall referee the next teams playing on the court where they lost.
We attempt to limit CPVA tournaments to 16 teams for both men's and women's divisions. Winners' bracket players play best two of three games to 21; contenders' bracket plays one game to 25. There is no cap. If for any reason the field of teams grows beyond 16, at least the first three rounds of the winners' bracket shall be played one game to 25 and contenders' shall be one game to 15. In order to assure successful completion of the event the tournament director may switch:
  • all winners' games to 25, 21 or 15 depending on time.
  • all contenders' games to 25, 21 or 15 depending on time.
If the event cannot finish before dark, the event shall end at 9:00 p.m. The undefeated team shall be declared winner and the highest seeded teams remaining in the event shall be deemed 2nd, 3rd, etc. based on their seed at the beginning of the event.
*Exceptions:
  • If there is more than one undefeated team, the highest seeded team at the beginning of the event shall be declared winner and the other team will be second.
  • A lower seeded team that defeats a higher seeded team during the event will finish above the team that was defeated.
Any teams that do not follow the event format or scoring as set by the director will forfeit the event and be restricted from playing in at least one future CPVA event.
Points will accrue based on each team's finish. No points shall be required to play in the CPVA. Teams shall be entered as their entries are received. If more than one entry is received and only one spot is available, teams with higher points shall receive the remaining spot.
The CPVA uses AVP rules which can be reviewed at: www.fivb.com
CPVA players are responsible for keeping their areas clean and placing all trash in the supplied receptacles. Any players caught leaving trash at the event shall be restricted from playing in at least one future CPVA event.
Prize breakdown:
 0-8 teams = round-robin format for non-cash prizes.
 9-15 teams = double-elimination bracket; $200/1st, $100/2nd, $50/3rd.
 16 or more = double-elimination bracket; $400/1st, $200/2nd, $100/3rd.
